Согласно этому решению, начиная с 2010 г. неесовские страны уже не могли претендовать на
присвоение титула европейской культурной столицы, в то время как за прошедший период
побывать номинантами успели Краков и Прага до вступления Польши и Чехии в Евросоюз,
Рейкьявик, Берген и Ставангер (Норвегия) и Стамбул.
