in the Arab world is very real. Because of its historical specifics it is the easternmost country of
the West and the westernmost country of the East; as such it is civilizationally much closer to
the Arab countries than the European states or America. Russia's active involvement in the Mid-
dle East and North Africa means that no geopolitical realities will be formed there without taking
its interests into account.
The prerequisites of cooperation between Russia and the Arab world are objective. No matter
which regimes will come to power in the region they will need the Russian Federation. This
means that despite the changes now taking place in the Middle East and North Africa the future
of Russia's relations with the countries of the Arab East looks optimistic."
