POLICY

G. Gatilov. "In the field" for the 69th session of the UN General Assembly.

Each session of the UN General Assembly is a milestone that not only sums up the political year, and gives an estimate of the current state of international relations, but also lays down an approach for future progress.

T. Mansurov. The EAEC: from cooperation on integration, to a Eurasian Economic Union.

The foundation of the ideology of the Eurasian community was established in the emigration of the Russian community to Europe in the first half of the 20th century. In the early 1990s, the ideas of Eurasian theorists were reanalyzed by N. Nazarbayev, in which he elaborated on the concept of "Eurasianism in practice”, in the implementation of a project to establish a Eurasian Union of States.

A. Klimov. BRICS: no longer just summits

The visible progress in the development of relations between the BRICS countries should be secured and strengthened not only via the party lines of the heads of state, ministries and departments, but also in other formats, which, when used skillfully can add their own "product value" to the common cause.

K. Dolgov. The 5th International Festival of Orthodox Media: "Faith and the Word."

The most effective way of strengthening human rights and promoting universal values, is the maintenance of equitable, mutually respectful and constructive dialogue, while respecting the fundamental principle of the sovereignty of the state, and the cultural and historical features of individual states.

UKRAINIAN VECTOR

V. Petrovsky. Russia and East Asia in the context of the Ukrainian crisis: "no" to sanctions, "yes" to a new world order.

At the present time, the system of international relations and the existing world order are being "tested in the Ukraine." Russia's relations with the countries of East Asia are not an exception, but rather a confirmation and a graphic illustration of this.

A. Orlov. The new paradigm of international relations.

What we are witnessing in the present situation of historical development, is a significant, and perhaps a cardinal change, in the geopolitical shape of the world. A quarter of a century of partnership between Russia and the West is coming to a conclusion.

E. Solovev. "Regime change" in Ukraine and the problems in the evolution of Russian-American relations.

For a long time, the topic of shortages of resources in the world that could potentially become a source of serious international conflicts has attracted the attention of domestic researchers. In recent years, it can more and more be clearly seen as equally important to the world economy and world politics as the deficit of the importance of a universal resource - trust.

Editor in Chief’s Column

Armen Oganesyan.  Obama's speech: somewhere between "war and peace".

President Obama’s speech at the General Assembly was filled with "political drama” about the fact that the world is at the crossroads between "war and peace", and "hope and fear." And among the major threats he mentioned was that of "Russian aggression in Europe." The impression was that the master of the White House was confusing times and ages, facts and faces.

JUBILAEUS

The 70th anniversary of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

After seven decades of overcoming obstacles and enjoying victories, the Moscow Institute of International Relations, has today became the authoritative University not only in our country but also in the international arena, as an essential institution, and also as a respected centre of research.

A man of his time. The 85th anniversary of Yevgeny Primakov.

Events across the Atlantic – that was the first topic discussed by those gathered together for a truly round table discussion of the companions and disciples of Yevgeny Primakov. However, during the two-hour conversation it became clear that the guest of honor was the undisputed owner of dozens of plaudits in the fields of real politics, science, and journalism.

THE WORLD AROUND US

Yuri Raykov. Russia - Japan: the thrust towards cooperation.

In the political arena of the Asian Pacific region, Russia and Japan stand out alone, having been practically ousted by the United States and China into a secondary role. However, when faced with new challenges, Russia and Japan have become natural strategic partners in East Asia.

Eva Charkovska. The dynamics of the Russian and Chinese strategies in Central Asia.

A few essential questions should be asked in the analysis of the policies of Russia and China in Central Asia: what are the advantages of this region? Why has it attracted the attention of the major players in the international arena? Which Russian and Chinese interests are intertwined in the region?

A. Davydenko. Russia - Asia: we need each other.

From the 19th-23rd September this year, an official visit to Laos and China took place by a delegation of Russian senators, led by the chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. The visit was a logical continuation of the system of multi-level dialogue between Russia and its Asian partners.

MILESTONES IN HISTORY

D. Safonov. Moscow in its time of fate.

Moscow in October 1941, in the view of an eyewitness, was busy, tense and even concerned. This bore no resemblance to the way it was usually, stable and confident in its untouchability.

Yuri Basenko. The activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in assisting Russian nationals abroad in the early part of the First World War.

The seminal document adopted on the eve of the First World War aimed at regulating the activities of the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Empire, which was issued between June 24 / July 7 1914, noted that one of the activities of the Ministry was to "provide comprehensive support, care and protection for the interests of  Russian citizens abroad."

N. Barsukov. "The Czech Issue". Czech conservative thought at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

In the history of the Czech political thought in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, issues of the internal structure of the Austro-Hungarian Empire were closely intertwined with the problem of the monarchy’s foreign policy. This multinational state had been formed surrounded by two powerful cultural and historical centers: Russia and Germany.

M. Yakushev. A ceremonial reception for Russian diplomats by the Sultan and Grand Vizier during Russian-Ottoman relations at the end of the 18th century.

The ceremonies differed considerably from the ceremonial practices of the Middle Ages in the reception of foreign ambassadors and envoys under the Ottoman Court, and served as a mirror of the changes taking place in foreign policy and other areas of life of the Ottoman state and society at the end of the 18th century.
